Ado Onaiwu is a half-Nigerian striker, physically strong and good at target play and air battle with his astonishing jumping ability. As a striker, he also has a wide range of shooting skills. 

Ado joined Jef United Ichihara Chiba from Shochi Fukaya high school in 2014.
He marked his first goal in September that year and played 35 matches during his second professional season.
He played 5 matches in the AFC U-23 championship 2016, contributed to Japan to be qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics. He was also selected as a back-up member to Japan U-23 team for the Olympics.
Moved to Urawa Reds, one of the biggest clubs in J.League in 2017.
In 2018, he was on loan to Renofa Yamaguchi FC in seek of further opportunities for playing, scored 22 goals in 42 matches (all as a starter) and earned 2nd place in the goal scorer ranking in J2.
In 2019, Ado took up a new challenge at freshly promoted J1 club Oita Trinita on loan, became a vital attacker for the team.
During the 2019 season, he scored 10 goals in 31 appearances, which earned him a call-up to Japan national team and an offer from the league champions Yokohama F Marinos.
Ado was selected as the Best 11 for AFC champions league 2020.
Also he scored a hat trick in his first international match as a starter for the Japan national team in June 2021. 

In July 2021, Ado moved to French side Toulouse FC on a permanent deal and played all league matches and scored 10 goals in 2021/22 season. Toulouse won Ligue 2 in the season and promoted to Ligue 1.

Ado played 34 matches in his first League 1 season and won the French Cup.
Then he moved to AJ Auxerre on a permanent deal in August 2023.
